Police Officer Suffers Facial Injury

A London Police Service media release:

On Tuesday July 20th at 12:48 am Police were called to a residence on Wharncliffe Road for a male in possession of a knife banging on a door demanding entry. Police located a male in possession of a knife walking on Wharncliffe Road. The male did not follow the officer’s directions and would not drop the knife. A conductive energy device was used but was ineffective on the male. The male fled and there was a foot pursuit of that male by officers. A short time later the male emerged from a wooded area in Kensington Park and an officer chased after him. The male attempted to go over a fence near Gower Street and when the officer grabbed a hold of the male, he was cut across the face by a sharp object in the male’s hand. A second officer continued the foot pursuit. At one point the male was ordered to drop the knife by gunpoint. The male threatened to kill the officer. The male was arrested after a conductive energy device was discharged. The officer was taken to hospital where he received seven stitches to the face.

Luke Victor Thomas MACDONALD, 18 years of London is charged with two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, assault with a weapon, resist arrest and uttering threats to cause death.
