Crash Results From Wrong-Way Vehicle

A London Police Service media release:

The August long weekend started with a serious alcohol related crash as police remind motorists to stop drinking and driving. Early this morning at approximately 2:45am a 29 year old male drove southbound in the northbound lanes of Highbury Avenue from Hamilton Road and crashed into an oncoming vehicle.

All parties were taken to hospital where the male driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving. The other involved parties were not seriously injured.

Charged is Luis MORENO-HERRERA, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle CC 253(1)(a)

Police everywhere are again highlighting the dangers of drinking alcohol and then driving. Don’t do it! Take a cab or use a true designated driver! London Police will have RIDE spotchecks out this weekend.

In addition, Sunday morning will be the first day of the new law for YOUNG drivers! Drivers under the age of 22, regardless of class of licence (full blown G) will have to refrain from having ANY level of alcohol in their system. Offenders will receive a 24 hour licence suspension, a $110 ticket.

Enjoy the weekend but when driving do so SOBER!

Sgt. Tom O’Brien
Traffic Management Unit.
