Brent Shea Named as New Deputy Chief of Police
Brent Shea is a 30 year veteran of the London Police Service and has worked in several areas of the organization including Uniformed Patrol, Major Crime, Vice and Drugs, Forensic Identification, Explosive Disposal, Professional Standards Branch, Human Resources Branch.
Brent was most recently assigned as the Superintendent responsible for the Corporate Services Division. His recent responsibilities included oversight of the Human Resources Branch, Fleet and Facilities Branch as well as the Research and Planning Unit, the area responsible for the development of the Business Plan, Annual Reports, Procedures and all audits.Throughout his career, Brent has also been involved in various policing initiatives at both the Provincial and National levels. These include the Police Sector Council of Canada Advisory Committee on Competency Based Management; Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Canadian Police Knowledge Network; Ontario Police College Forensic Identification Training Advisory Committee; and the Advisory Group for the restructuring of Explosive Disposal Training at the Canadian Police College.
In addition to numerous police related courses, Brent holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology (King’s University College, University of Western Ontario) as well as a Master of Public Administration degree (University of Western Ontario).
Brent also comes from a tradition of policing. His father Tom is a retired Inspector from the Hamilton Police Service, his brother Michael is a serving Superintendent with the Hamilton Police Service, his son Cameron is a serving constable with the London Police Service and his Uncle Dan retired as a Sergeant from the Hamilton Police Service.
Brent currently serves as Chair of the King’s University College Foundation Board, is a Director on the London Boys’ and Girls’ Club Board of Directors and was a Director on the 2010 Special Olympics National Summer Games Organizing Committee. He recently departed the Monsignor Feeney Foundation Board after serving 17 years including 3 years as Chair of the Board as well as 5 years as Chair of the Fantasy Lottery Program. Brent was also a longtime participant in the Labatt’s 24 Hour Relay as well as other charitable events. Brent resides in London with his wife Becky and they have three adult sons.
