At 7:59 PM on Thursday September 2, 2010 London Police and EMS responded to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision. The collision occurred on Commissioners road between Wellington road and Ridout street south. The collision involved a black Hyundai Elantra motor vehicle, heading east on Commissioners road and a black Kawasaki motor cycle heading west on Commissioners road. Preliminary Investigations indicates that the westbound motorcycle struck the eastbound car as it was turning left to go north on High St. The male and female on the motorcycle were ejected with the injuries initially being described as serious. Both were taken to the hospital. The occupants of the car, a female and young child, were not injured. Members of the London Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, along with Forensic Identification, attended the scene. Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $10,000 and damage to the motor vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Police are continuing to investigate.
The motorcycle driver has been released from hospital but the passenger remains in the hospital listed in serious condition. Both riders were wearing a helmet.
